Anjanée Bell for Mayor of Durham

Artfully Building a Better Durham for Everyone.

I love Durham. I am running for Mayor because I am passionate about this city—its people, its future, and the power of public service.

I am deeply concerned about where Durham is headed. We are at risk of losing our way—and losing what makes Durham Durham—what makes it home.

I want to prove that bold, community-rooted leadership—grounded in truth, vision, justice, safety, and care—can build a better Durham for everyone.

A Durham where everyone belongs, and no one is left behind.

Help build a better Durham for everyone.

I come from a legacy of service—

one shaped by steady hands, hard choices, and nearly five decades of public trust. My father, William V. “Bill” Bell, dedicated 47 years to Durham—16 of them as Mayor. I witnessed leadership firsthand. I watched decisions made not for applause, but for impact. I saw what it means to carry both the weight and the responsibility of public trust. It was the best masterclass I could have received. It gave me a perspective few candidates have.

Movements do not happen overnight.

Durham’s future will not be built by energy alone. It will take those who have lived through promises broken. Those who have seen change delayed and still kept showing up. Those who know what it takes to build—not just believe. I honor those who have carried the weight before me. Their wisdom is not behind us—it is part of the way forward.

Let us move this vision forward.

To win and to transform this city, we will need people willing to put in the work, stand in the gaps, and believe in something greater than themselves—so Durham rises stronger, together.

I am a single mother raising three children in Durham. I know what it means to carry the weight, to create something from nothing, and to push forward when every challenge says stop. I carry that same determination into this campaign.

Will you make a contribution today to help move this vision forward?
